Finding the Right Festivals for Your Film

Description

Submitting your film to festivals can feel like a mix of strategy, luck, and mystery—but it doesn’t have to. This session will break down the key factors to consider when deciding where to submit and how to assess which festivals are the best fit for your film. Festival strategist Nancy Collet (Collet Cinema), filmmakers Contessa Gayles (Songs from the Hole) and others will share their personal experiences, offering insight into their own festival strategies—what worked, what didn’t, and what they wish they had done differently. Whether you’re navigating submissions for the first time or looking to refine your approach, this conversation will provide practical advice to help you craft a strategy.

All registrants may participate in the live session, and will also receive access to the recorded event, a written transcript, the chat transcript and a copy of the slide presentation (if available) after the livestream. Access to the recorded event will be available within a few hours of the live session via the same access link; additional materials will be available a few business days following the live event and will be emailed directly to all registrants.

Tickets are $19 ($14 for IFC Center members). Tickets are non-refundable.
