The Trailer Lab: Real-World Feedback

Showings

New School Starr Foundation Hall Tue, May 5 12:00 PM

Description

This hands-on, in-person trailer feedback lab will give filmmakers direct, actionable insight into how their projects are landing. Participants will screen their trailer and receive focused feedback from two industry experts, centered on what funders and distributors are responding to, and what could be clearer, stronger, or more compelling. After registering, lab participants will need to submit a trailer by April 28 for either fundraising or distribution.

Filmmakers taking part in the lab will be grouped in small cohorts; each filmmaker will receive two rounds of real-world feedback (from two different industry consultants), while also benefitting from the discussion around their peers’ work. The lab begins with a brief, collective look at one or two effective documentary trailers to sharpen the group’s shared language around structure, tone, and storytelling impact. Fast-paced, collaborative, and practical, this lab offers a fresh, energizing format for direct evaluation and peer-to-peer learning, one built around close listening, candid exchange, and forward momentum for works in progress.

Note: This event will be held in the Starr Foundation Hall at the New School (63 Fifth Ave, New York, NY, 10003)

Tickets are $60 ($48 for IFC Center members). Tickets are non-refundable. Registration for this event will close on April 27th.
